If not recognized and treated, mental health issues pose a significant risk to flight safety.
Mental health problems play an important role in human performance. If not recognized and treated mental health issues pose a significant risk to flight safety because of the impairments to task performance. Psychological problems may range from minor to moderate in severity. In most cases they are transient and treatable before they become enduring problems with potentially serious and permanent consequences for license holders. The provision of mental health support in the aviation industry improves flight safety and it reduces offsetting business costs relating to absenteeism, turnover and disability of flight crew and other safety critical personnel.
Crewmind helps you to conform with EASA regulations.
In 2018 the European Union published legislation stipulating European operators to implement support programs to encourage flight crew to self-refer any mental well-being issues in a safe and confidential environment with appropriate support of peers (trained colleagues) and mental health professionals with an in-depth knowledge and expertise in aviation.
CREWMIND offers three pillars of mental support to flight crew, cabin crew, flight engineers and air traffic controllers:
- Peer support program
- Substance abuse support program
- Psychological Assessments
